Captivating Cavetown Concert

On the 5 November, Robin Skinner, otherwise known as Cavetown, performed at The Apollo, to a crowd of over 3,000 people. This was his biggest show to date.

The opening acts were Sidney Gish, followed by Orla Gartland, who were both excellent, and Gartland in particular did an amazing job of warming up the audience. She played her hit song, ‘Why am I like this?’, which was recognized by the majority of the crowd from Heartstopper.

When Cavetown came on stage at around 8:30, the crowd went wild. The opening song was drowned out slightly by the screams from the pit. The second song, was Lemon Boy, which most of the crowd sang along to, half singing, half shouting.

The rest of the concert followed a typical structure, he played some songs from his new album, Worm Food, and some songs which were lesser known – but played the hits (which the entire crowd could sing along to) in between.

Hari Turner, was standing and said: “It was amazing, I can’t believe he was right there. It was the best.” Turner then went on to explain that it was the first concert he had ever attended, and that it was everything he had hoped it would be.

This show concluded Cavetown’s tour of Europe, which consisted of twenty shows across many different countries. The crowd at the Apollo consisted mainly of teenagers, some accompanied by their parents, the show was well-adapted to its audience, and entertaining and engaging for everyone in attendance.
